MBDA has qualified the new naval-configured Marte MK2 missile during a planned firing exercise conducted in Italy.

The launch checked the new ammunition’s canister behaviour and ensured that the missile and canister separated correctly.

During the firing exercise the missile progressed as planned by executing a trajectory that included a number of different way points to check its dynamic capabilities.

Analysis of the missile’s flight parameters are still ongoing, which will provide an accurate final assessment of the launch.

MBDA Italia managing director Antonio Perfetti said: @With this launch, the Marte missile…is growing to include all possible applications, as is our confidence in its further export potential.”
