Marshall Aerospace is bidding for the UK Royal Navy requirement for a maritime surveillance aircraft to conduct anti-submarine, anti-ship, and search and rescue missions.

The company has proposed modifying and converting some of the Royal Air Force Lockheed C-130J aircraft using equipment that was developed for the Nimrod MRA.4 aircraft.

The modifications will include installation of Thales Searchwater radar, sonobuoys, an electro-optic turret, Northrop Grumman Night Hunter II EO/IR system, ESM antennas and five tactical workstations.

The company had earlier designed palletised maritime surveillance solutions for the C-130 and other tactical airlifters, according to Ainonline.com.
