Federal Cartridge has been awarded a firm-fixed-price, indefinite-delivery, indefinite-quantity contract by the US Naval Surface Warfare Center for AA40 5.56mm frangible ammunition.

The AA40 5.56mm frangible ammunition will be used by US Navy and US Marine Corps in rifles and carbines chambered for this calibre without modification.

The ammunition, primarily designed for training purposes, disintegrates into small fragments upon impact, reducing over penetration and risks of recoil during military operation especially in urban terrain operation.

The polymer-compound round reduces the risk of personal injury, health and environmental hazards.
