Developed by CEA Technologies, the new multiphase array radar system can identify, track and guide missiles to multiple targets simultaneously.
Minister for Defence Materiel Jason Clare said that at the moment the Anzac frigates could track and destroy one target at a time.
“This new radar means they will now be able to track and destroy multiple targets at the same time,” he added.
The Australian Government is also planning to equip the other seven Anzac Class frigates with the new radar system.
