Under the extension contract, the company will provide technical and engineering services for design-related activities to support construction and maintenance of the ship design.
Huntington Ingalls is currently building the deckhouse, hangar and peripheral vertical launch systems for DDG-1000 and DDG-1001.
The deckhouse of DDG-1000 is expected to be delivered in 2012, with the ship scheduled for delivery to the navy by 2014.
