The US Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic has awarded a cost-plus-fixed-fee (CPFF) contract to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to provide infrastructure protection solutions.

Under the multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) deal, SAIC will provide engineering and lifecycle support for electronic security systems, public safety, information assurance, and engineering network systems in support of SSC Atlantic’s enterprise systems engineering organisation.

The company will also provide protection solutions, including a range of services relating to the development, design, installation, engineering, and technical support for infrastructure protection, as well as emergency management technology support solutions and projects.

"This contract allows SAIC to expand our reach and provide our technological and engineering expertise in the fields of emergency management and infrastructure protection technology support, a crucial area of our nation’s security."

In addition to providing support services, the company will provide logistics, software and non-US Navy and US Marine Corps web development.

SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager Jim Thigpen said: "This contract allows SAIC to expand our reach and provide our technological and engineering expertise in the fields of emergency management and infrastructure protection technology support, a crucial area of our nation’s security."

The firm-fixed price contract has a one-year base period with four one-year options, which if exercised brings the contract value to approximately $228m for all awardees.

Work will be carried out primarily in Charleston, South Carolina, and remaining tasks at the company’s facilities worldwide.

Within the business enterprise information systems department, SSC Atlantic’s will be responsible for the engineering development, design, procurement, fabrication, configuration, installation, integration, logistics, maintenance, and lifecycle support services for infrastructure protection.

The operational requirements of the US Department of Defense and other government agencies will also be supported by the organisation.
