The US Space and Naval Warfare Systems Center (SSC) Atlantic has awarded a contract to Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) to extend its services in support of the US Navy’s operational requirements and a variety of government-related activities.

Under the multiple-award indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract, the company will provide security and engineering services for anti-terrorism/force protection (AT/FP) systems installed on US ports.

The AT/FP systems include sensors, surveillance systems and other collaboration software that allow quick information sharing across various federal agencies.

The support services to be provided by the company will include systems engineering, analysis, development, acquisition, integration, installation, testing, software development and maintenance, and integrated logistical support for AT/FP systems, as part of the contract.

John Thomas, SAIC senior vice president and business unit general manager, said: "We look forward to providing SSC Atlantic with world-class physical security and force protection capabilities where security is of high or vital interest."

The contract has a one-year base period of performance and four one-year options, which when exercised will bring the total value of the award to nearly $224m for all awardees.

SAIC is one of those seven contractors, who have been selected to compete for task orders under the contract.

Work under the contract will be carried out primarily in the national capital region.
