Financial details of the final transaction were not disclosed at the time of closure, but the initial agreement valued the deal at $3.45bn.
Ultra Maritime, headquartered in Braintree, Massachusetts, delivers a range of technologies including sonar systems, sonobuoys, torpedo defence solutions, radar, electronic warfare tools, and autonomous maritime sensing platforms.
Its portfolio, spanning airborne, surface and undersea domains, will now sit within Lockheed Martin’s Rotary and Mission Systems business area.
Lockheed Martin rotary and mission systems president Stephanie Hill said: “Securing the undersea domain starts with giving sailors the tools and confidence to find, track and deter threats that put ships and crews at risk.
“This is more than an acquisition – it’s a commitment to unite the best of our technology, capability and people to meet our partners’ urgent and growing demand for undersea warfare capability worldwide.”
Ultra Maritime operates internationally, with facilities in the US, Canada, the UK and Australia.
The company’s global presence and range of ASW products for allied customers will enhance Lockheed Martin’s capacity to provide sonar solutions for next-generation maritime platforms.
Last month, Ultra Maritime announced that all five of its latest US-specification sonobuoys had reached readiness for full-scale production. These are expected to support continued modernisation efforts among allied naval forces.
In a LinkedIn post, Ultra Maritime stated: “Our integration journey continues. Ultra Maritime’s LinkedIn page will phase out over the next few weeks – please follow Lockheed Martin for ongoing announcements, product releases, and thought leadership in undersea warfare.”
