The crew of the USS Alexandria (SSN 757), a Los Angeles-class fast-attack submarine, have held an inactivation ceremony after 35 years of active duty.
The ceremony took place at Naval Base Point Loma on 29 June 2026, before the vessel’s scheduled move to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard for decommissioning.

First commissioned on 29 June 1991, USS Alexandria is the third US vessel to bear the name, and the 46th submarine of the Los Angeles class.
During its service, USS Alexandria carried out 14 overseas deployments to the Mediterranean Sea, Arctic Ocean, Persian Gulf, and the Indo-Pacific, including a 2004 around-the-world deployment through the Arctic.
The submarine supported multiple operations, among them Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom, as well as undertaking Arctic exercises and security operations in the Indo-Pacific.
The submarine most recently served with Submarine Squadron 11, providing support for anti-submarine warfare, anti-ship warfare, strike missions, and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance tasks.
Across its lifetime, it sailed more than one million miles, according to DVIDS.
In addition, USS Alexandria received various commendations, including the Navy Unit Commendation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, and several Battle Efficiency (Battle “E”) awards for operational performance.
