L3Harris Technologies has been awarded a contract worth up to $98m to deliver proximity fuzes by the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division.
The firm-fixed-price contract covers the delivery of Mechanical Proximity Fuzes to upgrade the Advanced Precision Kill Weapon System for the Department of War (DoW), L3Harris stated in a release on 3 June 2026.

The Mechanical Proximity Fuze, also known as the Fixed Wing, Air Launched, Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems Ordnance (FALCO) Proximity Fuze, is designed to support counter-unmanned aerial system operations in various environments.
The system is intended to enhance reliable detonation at the optimal moment, converting launch platforms into cost-effective weapons against unmanned aerial threats.
L3Harris will manufacture the proximity fuzes at its facility in Cincinnati, Ohio.
L3Harris has increased its fuze production by a factor of seven, driven by the rising demand for the FALCO Proximity Fuze.
The company has also invested in tooling, modernised inspection equipment and an expanded supplier base are expected to support a twentyfold rise in total production capacity to meet both current and future US military requirements.
Based in Florida, US, L3Harris has been supplying advanced fuzes and safe and arm solutions for multi-domain military operations for over seven decades.
