OSI Maritime Systems (OSI) has been awarded contracts by the US Navy and Irish Naval Service to deliver its warship navigation systems.

The systems will integrate OSI’s electronic chart precise integrated navigation system – warship (ECPINS-W) software.

OSI’s contract with the US Navy involves the provision of ECPINS-W software for the navy’s ship-to-shore connector landing craft (SSC) programme.

The agreement also involves engineering services, which will be incorporated into the navy’s SSC command, control, communications, computers and navigation system.

The Irish Naval Service will receive ECPINS-W software and engineering services, as well as ship and operator training systems, and installation services across the complete naval service fleet, according to Shephard.

Aimed at simplifying the navigation system design, ECPINS-W complies with required standards for the International Association of Classification Societies.

The display capability of the system will support more than 30 charts and map formats, and integrate marine and terrestrial navigation into a single system, eliminating the requirement for further software and hardware systems.

It also provides a seamless shift in navigation regimes without the need for operator input.
