The agreement covers the supply of the new Trackfire ARES (Aerial Response) Remote Weapon Station, which incorporates a 30x113mm M230LF Bushmaster chain gun as its main armament.
This weapon system is designed to provide counter-uncrewed aerial system (C-UAS) capabilities, specifically targeting drones using proximity fuze ammunition.
FMV intends to use these systems within both the Swedish Army and Amphibious Battalion 2030, a project focused on developing future amphibious forces for the Swedish Armed Forces.
Saab has previously supplied the Trackfire Remote Weapon Station to customers including the Finnish Border Guard, Finland’s armed forces, Sweden, and other countries for deployment in land and naval environments.

By GlobalDataIn 2017, FMV contracted Saab to deliver Trackfire RWS for the Swedish Navy.
The installations have been applied on various platforms such as combat boats and missile boats, with adaptations for integration into existing systems.
The Trackfire RWS can be mounted on naval vessels, land vehicles, or fixed defence positions, supporting engagement accuracy while in motion or stationary.
It addresses threats at a range of distances and operates in conditions from severe weather on small craft to high-speed movement across difficult terrain by armoured vehicles.
Saab surveillance business area head Carl-Johan Bergholm said: “We are honoured that Trackfire RWS has been selected as a crucial part of the future capabilities for the Swedish amphibious forces and the Swedish Army.
“This order reflects our commitment to delivering state-of-the-art solutions that meet the evolving needs of modern defence. Trackfire RWS, with its precision and adaptability, will be a vital asset in enhancing operational effectiveness.”
