The US Navy has decommissioned the Oliver Hazard Perry (OHP)-class guided-missile frigate USS Rodney M. Davis (FFG 60) at Naval Station Everett.
Assigned to Destroyer Squadron 9, the frigate completed its last deployment and returned to the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans in December 2014, bringing an end to 28 years of service.
Destroyer Squadron 9 former commander captain William Triplett said: "Those who sailed with Rodney M. Davis will forever be linked and will always be a part of making history.
"They served our nation unselfishly like their namesake. This is the end of the frigate era here in Everett."
Commissioned in May 1987 as the 54th OHP-class frigate, USS Rodney M. Davis was named in honour of marine sergeant Rodney Davis, who was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery in the Vietnam War.
USS Robert G Bradley (FFG 49), another OHP, was decommissioned in March 2014, bringing an end to its 30-year operational life.
Powered by two GE LM 2500 gas turbine engines, the frigates have a full-load displacement of 4,100t, a maximum cruising speed of 30k and a range of 4,500nm.
