Mine-hunters: are they still needed?

While the use of sea mines has declined steeply since the two world wars, it would be wrong to consign them to the history books just yet. With murmurs of significant arsenals held by China and Russia, as well as rumours of ‘nuclear-armed’ mines in development, a modern fleet of minehunters is still very much relevant.
