GMT Rubber-Metal-Technic Ltd - Anti-Vibration and Shock Protection Solutions

GMT Rubber-Metal-Technic Ltd is a well-established market leader in the design, manufacture and supply of anti-vibration and shock-protection solutions.

Established in 1968, GMT has developed a comprehensive range of rubber-metal products suitable to meet the needs of our customers working in the naval, marine and offshore sectors.

Often a purpose-designed solution is required and in such cases we can provide a full design service utilising computer-modelling techniques such as finite element analysis and multi-directional vibration analysis to meet our customers' individual application requirements.

State-of-the-art simulation techniques, combined with physical dynamic testing in our environmental test chambers, are used to provide product validation ensuring GMT products meet design expectations.

SHOCK AND VIBRATION PROTECTION APPLICATIONS

Capable of complying with even the most extreme technical and operational specifications internationally within the naval sector (e.g. MIL, BV, MOD, STANAG etc.), GMT offers numerous specific shock and vibration protection solutions for a vast range of applications which include:

  • Protection of electronic equipment / cabinets on board ships
  • Mine hunting vessels
  • Accommodation / sleeping quarters
  • Engine mounts
  • Generators
  • Compressors.
  • Torque / drive couplings (e.g. propshaft)
  • Flexible bearings
  • Exhaust systems
  • HVAC mountings

SHOCK AND VIBRATION PROTECTION PRODUCTS

Shock and vibration protection products are available which incorporate captive and failsafe designs capable of withstanding overloads and still operating safely.

Mounts can be manufactured which comply with specific environmental requirements. For example, special protective, corrosion resistant coatings can be used such as composite finishes, zinc-nickel applications or simple passivation. Alternatively materials can be used which do not require special coatings such as stainless steels and aluminium alloys.

MULTI-PURPOSE ANTI-VIBRATION MOUNTS

A range of multi-purpose anti-vibration mounts for active isolation of vibration is available, suitable for numerous types of applications such as containers, cabins, compressors, generators and pumps. Multi-purpose anti-vibration mounts are available with and without height adjustment and internal overload limiters permit use on mobile applications such as onboard ships.

HIGH-DEFLECTION SHOCK MOUNTS

GMT offers a range of purpose-designed high-deflection shock mountings which are ideal for reducing transmitted shock loads to sensitive equipment. The high-deflection shock mountings are also particularly suitable for the attenuation of low-frequency marine applications.

THRUST MOUNTS, SANDWICH MOUNTS, CABLE MOUNTS, SPRING MOUNTS

A broad range of alternative mountings are available which include sandwich type mounts, thrust mounts, cable and spring mounts.

GMT mountings are available which have approval from the shipping societies such as Det Norske Veritas (DNV) and Lloyds Register of Shipping (LRS). Should you require assistance with a particular application and suitable product selection, please contact our technical sales team who will be pleased to assist.
