Milanion has secured an agreement with Indonesian defence company PT Republikorp for the provision of autonomous maritime solutions to the Indonesian Navy.

The agreement was signed by Milanion Group CEO Davinder Dogra and Republikorp CEO Norman Joesoef at International Defence Exhibition (IDEX) 2025 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The contract involves the conversion of 20 metre (m) vessels into uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) using Milanion's advanced autonomous technology.

An initial batch of five USVs is expected for delivery. It also sets the groundwork for future joint ventures.

The collaborative effort will see the inclusion of a local Indonesian shipyard, which will be responsible for the vessel construction and customisation in line with the navy's operational needs.

This partnership aims to seamlessly incorporate Milanion's conversion kits into the newly built boats, ensuring they fulfil the specific requirements set forth by the client.

This move will allow the Indonesian Navy to maximise the use of its existing fleet by integrating autonomous technology without incurring the costs associated with purchasing new dedicated vessels and parts.

Milanion CEO Davinder Dogra said: “This collaboration is a testament to the complementary strengths of our two companies and our evolving relationship will unlock opportunities in the tri-service maritime, land and air domains. We are confident that we can create new and innovative solutions that will enhance customer capabilities based on local requirements.”

The companies aim to explore further opportunities within Indonesia for delivering mobile and advanced defence solutions designed to suit local needs.

This deal comes after Milanion, via its UAE entity, signed a memorandum of understanding with Al Seer Marine last year to explore opportunities in the UAE market for uncrewed ground vehicle development, promotion, and sales.

Milanion is a technology company providing battle-ready products for the tri-service defence and security sectors.

In a separate development, Republikorp CEO Norman Joesoef and Drass CEO Sergio Cappelletti formalised a preliminary agreement for the DGK submarine project.

The final contract is anticipated to be executed in the summer of 2025, as per LinkedIn post.

This collaborative effort is poised to fulfil a critical operational need for the Indonesian Navy by advancing the serial production of midget attack submarines, aimed at bolstering its underwater defence capabilities.
