Singapore-based ST Engineering’s Marine business has entered a S$600m ($467m) agreement with Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB) to design and provide platform systems for eight missile gun boats to be supplied to the Kuwait Naval Force.
Under the sub-contract, which spans six years, ST Engineering will also construct three of the vessels at its Singapore shipyard. The remaining ships will be built by ADSB.

The missile gun boats for Kuwait will use ST Engineering’s Fearless-class patrol vessel, which it says is “well suited” for deployment in the Middle East.
According to the company, the vessels will be equipped with platform systems designed to support navigation accuracy, manoeuvrability, and operational effectiveness in various maritime conditions, including extended patrols and diverse deployment environments.
This project follows another contract awarded by ADSB in 2021 for four Offshore Patrol Vessels intended for the UAE Navy.
ST Engineering Marine business president Tan Leong Peng said: “This win strengthens ST Engineering’s growing momentum in international defence markets, underscoring the Group’s ability to deliver sophisticated naval platforms and capture rising demand for advanced maritime security solutions in the Middle East.
“We are honoured that the Kuwait Naval Force has chosen our Fearless-class design for their new Missile Gun Boat. The growing acceptance of our design across the Middle East, in Oman, UAE and now Kuwait, reflects customer confidence in its robust operational performance and adaptability.”
In June last year, EDGE Group, the parent company of ADSB, signed an Dh9bn ($2.45bn) defence contract with the Kuwait Ministry of Defence for the supply of FALAJ3 62-metre missile boats.
EDGE, being the prime contractor, was responsible for the design, construction, trials, delivery, logistics and service support for the programme, while ADSB was tasked as the build subcontractor, and will deliver the boats and their ammunition.
