South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) has contracted Cohort’s subsidiary, SEA, to support the Philippine Navy’s (PN) two new missile-armed corvettes.
Under the contract, SEA will supply its Torpedo Launcher System (TLS) for the PN corvettes. TLS is a close range, rapid reaction weapon launch capability.

The value of the contract has not been disclosed.
The corvettes are being acquired from HHI as part of the Revised Armed Forces of the Philippines Modernization Program (RAFPMP).
As per this contract, HHI will deliver the first corvette to PN in 2023 and the second one in 2025.

As the primary supplier to the UK Royal Navy, SEA has been supplying the integrated TLSs for over 30 years.
SEA’s TLS features a flexible modular design that can configured to fire NATO-compatible lightweight torpedoes, the US Mk44, Mk46 and Mk54 torpedoes, British Sting Ray, Italian A244S fire-and-forget torpedo, and more.
SEA strategic accounts vice-president David Hinds said: “The inherent flexibility of our TLS will provide the Philippine Navies with a capability that helps future-proof the corvettes against new weapon developments and obsolescence, whilst also ensuring commonality across the fleet.”
Last year, an undisclosed South American customer awarded a contract to SEA for its TLS.
