German shipbuilding company Lürssen has awarded a contract to Swedish firm Saab to provide combat system for the Bulgarian Navy’s Multipurpose Modular Patrol Vessels (MMPV).

Under the contract, signed by the companies, Saab will be responsible for the delivery and integration of the combat system.

The Bulgarian Ministry of Defence previously selected Lürssen as the prime contractor for the construction of two new patrol vessels for the needs of the navy.

The vessels will be constructed at Bulgarian shipyard MTG Dolphin JSC. They will be delivered between 2025 and 2026.

Saab business area head and Surveillance deputy CEO Anders Carp said: “We are proud to continue our successful cooperation with Lurssen.

“We look forward to contributing to strengthen Bulgaria’s defence and national security for years to come with our proven technology and solid naval combat system expertise.”
