Raytheon, an RTX business, has finished a 26,000ft2 enlargement of its Redstone Raytheon Missile Integration Facility, backed by a $115m investment.
This expansion will increase the site’s integration and delivery capacity by more than 50% and expand Raytheon’s presence in Alabama to over 2,200 employees.

Raytheon’s Redstone facility serves as the final integration point for numerous missile programmes for the US Navy, the US Missile Defense Agency, and other defence clients.
Previously, the site integrated nine variants of the Standard Missile family, including Standard Missile-3 and Standard Missile-6.
Raytheon broke ground on the new extension in April 2024. At that time, RTX stated that the expansion would support additional defence programmes such as the Glide Phase Interceptor (GPI), which is designed to counter hypersonic glide vehicles during their glide phase.
Raytheon Naval Power president Barbara Borgonovi said: “This expansion marks an important step in our ability to deliver more missiles to our customers faster, and our investment here demonstrates our commitment to making that a reality.

Since its opening in 2012, the Redstone facility has played a major role in missile production and integration for both urgent and long-term munitions requirements.
The expansion reflects the company’s continued investment in increasing capacity and accelerating production to address both immediate and long-term requirements for critical munitions.
US Representative Dale Strong (AL-5) said: “This expansion will ensure our men and women in uniform have the advanced missile capabilities they need, when they need them, while supporting high-quality jobs in our community.”
In May 2024, Raytheon announced five framework agreements with the US Department of War (DoW) Baimed at significantly increasing production capacity and accelerating deliveries of critical munitions.
These agreements will utilise Raytheon facilities in Tucson in Arizona, Huntsville in Alabama and Andover in Massachusetts.
