The Chilean Navy (Armada de Chile) has contracted VSE Aviation’s (VAI) subsidiary Prime Turbines to conduct the overhaul and upgrade of two PT6A-25 turboprop engines.
The turboprop engines are used by the Chilean Navy to power its fleet of Pilatus PC-7 Turbo Trainer aircraft, which are primarily deployed for pilot training purposes.

VSE Aviation president and chief operating officer Paul Goffredi said: “We are grateful to the Chilean Navy for entrusting us with this work. These overhauls are the first of what we hope will be many more.”
Goffredi added: “We’d like to thank our appointed representative, NewCont Chile, with assisting us in winning this award and look forward to receiving the engines in the next few weeks.”
PT6A-25 is the compact variant of the PT6A family of turboprop engines, which has been developed by Pratt and Whitney Canada (P&WC).
P&WC’s PT6 engines are most commonly used to power turboprop military training jets such as the Beechcraft T-34 Mentor aircraft.
