UK-based ship control systems supplier Servowatch is delivering its integrated platform management system (IPMS) to the Royal Navy’s initial three River-class offshore patrol vessels (OPVs).
The deal will see the company supply an IPMS control and monitoring package for propulsion of the vessels, as well as power generation, heating ventilation and air conditioning, fire-detection, tank gauging systems and auxiliary services.

River-class OPVs have been developed by BAE Systems Naval Ships, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the UK-based company BAE Systems.

By GlobalDataThe new ships will be equipped with the IPMS solution, and will function as a modified version of a proven OPV design already operational within the Brazilian Navy and the Royal Thai Navy.
Vessels will be equipped with more storage capacity and accommodation facilities, in addition to a flight deck able to operate advanced Merlin Helicopters.
Manufacture of the first four OPVs has already begun at BAE Systems’ Glasgow facilities in the UK.
Servowatch previously secured a contract to deliver its IPMS systems to two more ships, Tamar and Spey, as announced by the UK Government in the Strategic Defence and Security Review in November 2015.
