The Royal Navy of Oman (RNO) has taken delivery of the first high-speed support vessel (HSSV), RNOV Al Mubshir, from Austal.
Delivered on time and within the specified budget, the RNOV Al Mubshir has been built under a $124.9m contract, awarded by RNO to Austal to design, build and provide logistics support for two HSSVs.

Austal CEO David Singleton said: "The HSSV leverages our revolutionary intellectual property and technology in high-speed vessels and demonstrate our proven ability as a prime defence contractor to navies across the globe.
"Construction of the second HSSV is progressing well and on track for delivery to the Royal Navy of Oman later this year."
The 72m-long RNOV Al Mubshir has a vehicle deck measuring 900m², a carrying capacity of 395t and can operate at a speed of 38k.
The vessel is based on Austal’s expeditionary fast transport (EPF) platform developed for the US Navy, and features an all-aluminium structure.

Equipped with a medium-lift aviation capability for a NH-90 helicopter, RNOV Al Mubshir can be deployed to conduct a range of naval missions, including helicopter operations, rapid deployment of military personnel and cargo, and search-and-rescue operations.
Austal is also constructing two Cape Class Patrol Vessels worth $63m for the Royal Australian Navy under the $305m Pacific Patrol Boats Replacement Project.
