Michael Baker International has secured a five-year contract worth up to $99m from the US Navy to provide civil engineering services to help improve the readiness of Navy and Marine Corps.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) contract will support projects at various government installations located in the Naval Facilities Engineering Command Southwest (NAVFAC SW) Area of Responsibility.

Michael Baker will facilitate infrastructure at the installations in California, Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico and Utah. The company may also be required to support additional projects across the world.

As per the terms of the contract, Michael Baker will support large projects under the Military Construction (MILCON) Programme.

The company will provide services in support of improvement projects such as new construction, repair and renovation of wet utility systems, airfield pavement such as runways, taxiways and aprons, roads and paving, as well as bridges.

The contract will also cover other projects such as entry gates/control points, outdoor recreational fields, combat training ranges, erosion control, stormwater management, and low impact development design.

The company will handle the preparation of requests for proposals for design-build projects, as well as design-bid-build construction contract packages.

It will also include site investigations and studies, cost estimating and post-construction services.

The Naval Facilities Engineering Command received five proposals for the contract.
