Defence contracting firm ManTech has been awarded an $88m contract to provide weapons and combat systems’ support for the US Navy.

The contract from the US Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) will see the company provide comprehensive test and evaluation (T&E) support for software programmes.

ManTech’s support services also include providing safety certification of the weapons and combat systems programmes.

Some of the US Navy programmes that the company will work on include the Aegis Combat System, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) System, and Ship Self-Defense System (SSDS) Aircraft Carrier – Nuclear Propulsion (CVN).

The services under the contract will also be delivered for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), and Zumwalt class guided missile destroyer (DDG 1000) programmes.

Furthermore, the company will provide engineering expertise and technical mission analysis for the US Navy’s naval ships and global sites.

ManTech Defense Sector executive vice-president and general manager David Hathaway said: “Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren’s continued reliance on ManTech is recognition of our deep bench strength and exceptional teams of test and evaluation experts.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract has a performance period of five years.

Last month, ManTech was selected to provide research and development support to the US Marine Corps’ science and technology programmes.

The five-year, $136m contract was awarded under the Department of Defense (DoD) Information Analysis Center’s Multiple Award Contract.
