Lockheed Martin and Fujitsu have formalised the initial purchase agreement for a key element in Japan’s Aegis System Equipped Vessel (ASEV) SPY-7 radar antenna.

The deal appoints Fujitsu as the supplier for the Subarray Suite Power Supply Line Replaceable Unit (PS LRU), supporting the co-production and integration of Japanese industrial capabilities into the project.

A signing ceremony between the two organisations confirmed Fujitsu’s role in delivering the PS LRU for the ASEV’s SPY-7 radar system.

Lockheed Martin vice president and general manager Chandra Marshall said: “Lockheed Martin’s collaboration with Fujitsu cements our commitment to establishing a Japan based supply chain for ASEV’s SPY 7 radar that will keep the fleet mission ready for decades. This is a continuation of our contribution and Fujitsu’s shared commitment to strengthening Japan’s defence capabilities.”

The companies had previously established their intended cooperation through a memorandum of understanding signed in May 2025.

The MoU named Fujitsu as a source for the radar system’s power supply unit.

Fujitsu will begin mass production of the PS LRU, which forms a key part of the SPY-7 solid-state radar technology.

The SPY-7 SPY-7 radar provides detection, tracking, and engagement functions for ballistic missile and advanced air threats. It is capable of engaging multiple targets and can operate in conjunction with other platforms, including the Aegis Combat System.

The system is deployed both within Japan and among international customers.

Fujitsu senior vice president and national security business unit head Kenichiro Miyazaki said: “Fujitsu is honoured to commence the mass production of the PS LRU, a critical component of the SPY-7 radar system and contribute to the strengthening of Japan’s defence sector domestic production and maintenance infrastructure.”
