The latest edition of the exercise witnessed participation from the highest number of units from the navies of both countries.
These included four frontline ships with integral helicopters, a submarine and several aircraft, including P8I and P8A long-range maritime reconnaissance anti-submarine Warfare aircraft.
For the first time, 55 military personnel from America and 20 from New Zealand embarked on the Royal Australian Navy (RAN) ships and witnessed the exercises during AUSINDEX-19.
The third edition of the exercise began on 2 April. It involved advanced warfare drills in all three dimensions, comprising anti-submarine, air defence, and anti-surface warfare exercises, including live-fire drills, replenishment at sea, and cross deck flying.

By GlobalDataAccording to India’s Ministry of Defence, the bilateral exercise was aimed at strengthening and enhancing cooperation and interoperability between the Indian Navy and the Royal Australian Navy.
It said that the exercise was also intended to facilitate interaction and exchange of professional views between the personnel of the two navies.
