The British Royal Navy’s new aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth is set to visit the eastern seaboard of the US in the next couple of months as it nears full operations.
US deployment of the nation’s future flagship and lead vessel of the Queen Elizabeth-class will include a port visit in the Washington area where it will serve as host of the Atlantic Future Forum.

The Atlantic Future Forum will see stakeholders in the US and UK industry and military come together to address the evolving nature of warfare and shared threats.
Known as WESTLANT 19, the transatlantic deployment comes after HMS Queen Elizabeth’s trip to the US last year to train alongside the US Navy.
The carrier will make several port calls ahead of its scheduled return to home before Christmas.

During deployment, the carrier and its crew will perform deck and warfare trials with UK F-35 jets, as well as rotary wing training with Merlin and Wildcat helicopters.
Furthermore, US Marine Corps F-35s will be welcomed on the deck.
HMS Queen Elizabeth, the Royal Navy’s largest and most advanced warship ever is expected to be deployed on global operations from 2021.
Last month, the aircraft carrier completed its first planned dry dock inspection period at Babcock’s Rosyth dockyard in Scotland.
