General Dynamics Information Technology (GDIT) has won an order to develop technology for the modernisation of the US Navy’s Sailor 2025 programme training systems.

GDIT is required to implement training curriculum to support the US Naval Air Warfare Center Training Systems Division’s (NAWCTSD) Ready Relevant Learning (RRL) programme.

The order has a ceiling value of $57m, including all options.

The RRL initiative is a career-long learning continuum that seeks to incorporate modern training methods for ‘faster learning and better knowledge retention’.

GDIT Defense Division senior vice-president Leigh Palmer said: “We are excited to help the navy achieve the art of the possible through the Sailor 2025 initiative. GDIT’s next-generation technology will help implement new tools and resources to empower all sailors as they advance in their career.”

The company will use advanced technologies to implement instructional designs, including self-directed interactive training and instructor-facilitated learning.

The delivery order also covers the provision of on-the-job resources and performance support.

The tools offered by GDIT will be made available through the navy’s e-Learning platform, labs, and via virtual display and mobile devices.

Formed in 2015, the Sailor 2025 initiative aims to improve personnel management and training systems to ensure the readiness of sailors.

The programme is intended to recruit, develop, reward, manage and retain personnel.

It involves personnel system modernisation, RRL and career readiness components.
