Arcline Investment Management-backed Fairbanks Morse Defense (FMD) has agreed to acquire IMI’s Truflo Marine business in a deal worth £225m ($294m).
Truflo Marine manufactures a range of valves and control solutions used in mission critical naval operations. Its products include ball, globe, gate, butterfly, and check valves, as well as actuators and pressure regulators.

These products are engineered for systems such as weapons handling, exhaust control, cryogenic isolation, and ballast management.
Truflo Marine’s valve designs are currently operational in more than 34 allied navies around the world.

By GlobalDataFor FMD, the acquisition will broaden its operational footprint in the field of valve design, engineering, and manufacturing for naval systems.
It will also increase the company’s capability to provide support for allied naval submarines and surface vessels worldwide.

“The result is an unmatched combination to ensure operational readiness of our customers. Truflo Marine’s products have ensured the integrity and survivability of submarines and their crews for decades.”
The deal includes Truflo Marine’s Birmingham, UK facility and nearly 270 employees. Its closing is expected in mid-2026, contingent on certain regulatory and other approvals.
Earlier in 2025, FMD secured contracts for supplying essential valve components required for the assembly of 12 US Virginia-class submarines and five Columbia-class submarines.
