Lockheed Martin Rotary and Mission Systems has secured a contract worth $55.72m to provide technical engineering support services for the navigation subsystem of the Trident II (D5) strategic weapon system operated by the US and UK navies.

The deal is scheduled to continue through to August 2018 and includes trainer systems support, support for shipboard systems integration increments 8 and 13, test equipment, logistics management, spare parts and material procurement.

BAE Systems Land and Armaments LP has secured a $32.79m deal to provide MK 38 MOD 3 machine gun systems (MGS) and associated spare parts to the US Navy.

The contract was awarded by the US Naval Surface Warfare Center and includes a number of options, which could increase the total value of the deal to $121.52m.

Work under the contract will be performed in Louisville, Kentucky, and Haifa, Israel, up to April 2019.

Lockheed is set to support the German Navy in upgrading the mission system processing suites on-board eight P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft until 2022 as part of the second phase of the programme.

Thales has won a $131.27m deal to support, maintain and manage the company’s communications systems installed on-board the British Royal Navy’s Queen Elizabeth Class aircraft carriers.

The company will also provide support for communications solutions on-board other platforms as part of the agreement, including systems integrated on-board Type 45 destroyers and Landing Platform Dock.

Gravois Aluminum Boats LLC has been awarded a contract worth $29.83m to design and build approximately 50 patrol boats for the US Naval Expeditionary Combat Command.

The ships will be built at Gravois Aluminum Boats’ facility in Jeanerette, Louisiana, through to March 2020.

The contact has been awarded by the US Naval Sea Systems Command.
