The second vessel entered the water for the first time on 3 September during a ceremony attended by Pakistan Navy vice-admiral Ather Mukhtar.

Speaking at the event, Mukhtar stated that the two offshore patrol vessels will enhance the Pakistan Navy’s maritime protection capabilities.

The country plans to use the corvettes to support regional maritime security patrols in the Indian Ocean region.

Damen launched the first ship under the contract in May this year. The vessel is expected to be delivered to the Pakistan Navy by the end of the year, while the delivery of the second one is anticipated to take place by mid-2020.
