The possible deal is primarily focused on supporting the US’s foreign policy and national security objectives and is also expected to help enhance the regional security of Bahrain.

The Royal Bahrain Navy intends to leverage the contracted support to keep the vessel in operational readiness status in order to ensure coastal defence and security.

No prime contractor is required for the proposed sale and Bahrain is expected to be able to easily absorb the support into its armed forces.

Approximately three US Government and six contractor representatives will deliver equipment fielding and systems checkout, as well as training, and technical and logistics support for an extended period under the deal.
