BAE Systems and Dell Technologies have partnered to provide a digital capability for the British Royal Navy’s new City-class Type 26 frigates.

The partnership is aimed at deploying a Shared Infrastructure to host the essential systems of the frigate.

The two companies’ approach is based on the implementation of a Shared Infrastructure solution across several front-line naval platforms, including the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers.

HMS Glasgow, which is the first ship in this class, is currently under construction on the Clyde in Glasgow.

BAE Systems was contracted in 2017 to deliver the first batch of Type 26s.

They will be the first three of eight vessels that will replace the Type 23 frigates currently in service.
