Saab is an international defense solutions company recognized for Business Expansion and Safety in the 2022 Naval Technology Excellence Awards.

The company won a number of notable contracts during the research period including an order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration (FMV) for the next phase of the Torpedo 62 system’s life extension programme, and a separate contract related to the new A26 Blekinge class submarines.

Saab has also been working on upgrading vessels such as with the delivery and integration of new naval radars and fire control directors for the F123 frigates and provision of a new combat management system. The company also signed a contract with the Norwegian Defence Material Agency (NDMA) to provide a complete communication system for the Royal Norwegian Navy, known as TactiCall Integrated Communication System (TactiCall ICS).

In the area of communications the company secured a contract to provide a Digital Tower solution for the UK Navy, the technology enables air traffic services to be conducted remotely. Saab also won a low-rate initial production (LRIP) option from the US Navy for delivery of its AN/SPN-50(V)1 shipboard air traffic radar.

The company has also been working on mine neutralisers, being awarded a contract to supply its Multi-Shot Mine Neutralisation System (MuMNS) to the UK-French Maritime Mine Countermeasure (MMCM) programme, under the programme, the MuMNS system will be operated from an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) and will ultimately be in service with the UK Royal Navy and French Marine Nationale.
