The project is scheduled for delivery in the third quarter of this year.

Kraken president and CEO Karl Kenny said: “We are very pleased with this repeat contract award from a long-standing customer.

“AquaPix is an industry leading sonar system providing military grade technology that enables superior 3D seabed imaging, faster data processing and a lower cost than competing sonars.”

Kraken’s AquaPix system has been designed to be incorporated on AUVs, manned and unmanned surface vessels and towed platforms, and leverages the latest electronics, transducer arrays and signal processing software optimised for the demanding size, weight, power and cost constraints of autonomous maritime vehicles.

"AquaPix is an industry leading sonar system providing military grade technology that enables superior 3D seabed imaging, faster data processing and a lower cost than competing sonars."

The modular system helps generate ultra-high-resolution seabed imagery at long ranges, while additional data generated by AquaPix provides detection and identification capabilities that cannot be obtained using conventional sidescan sonar.

The high resolution enables the Kraken system to deliver enhanced useable area coverage rates, which is up to ten times more compared to that of the conventional sonar and helps reduce mission time, while providing faster actionable intelligence.

AquaPix also produces precise 3D bathymetry data that is registered and geo-referenced to the same pixel grid co-ordinates as the imagery.

Operators can simultaneously generate crisp seabed imagery and detailed 3D digital terrain maps of seafloor topography that exceed IHO SP-44 survey standards.

AquaPix is equipped with the ability to generate centimetre-scale resolution in all three spatial domains, and can precisely detect, classify and identify small seabed objects.
