The Belgian Navy has acquired ten licences for SeeByte's SeeTrack software, which is to be integrated into its fleet of autonomous underwater vehicles (AUVs).

The company will also provide personnel training to the Belgian Navy as part of the agreement. The AUVs will be deployed for mine countermeasure (MCM) purposes.

SeeByte technical client manager Alastair Cormack said: “Where navies are looking to continually invest in technology that will allow them to get the most out of the systems available to them, SeeByte is able to provide them with just that.”

SeeByte’s SeeTrack software is an open-architecture platform solution that can be easily customised for the specific requirements of the user.

The software package comprises additional specialist modules designed for MCM operations, including automatic target recognition (ART), change detection tools, performance analysis training tools (PATT) and seafloor classification.

The additional modules have been designed to optimise SeeTrack for MCM activities, as well as highlight the relevant information from the sensors on-board the AUVs.

SeeTrack technology was developed as a mission-planning, monitoring, post-processing and reporting tool, and has been successfully deployed for a wide range of surveys, military and security operations and scientific experiments.

The Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) first purchased three seats of the SeeTrack Military open-architecture platform software from SeeByte in 2006, which is currently used by 16 navies worldwide.

The RNZN later agreed to buy three upgraded seats of the software in August 2013.
