Savunma Teknolojileri ve Mühendislik (STM) has delivered the fourth and last bow section of the Turkish Navy’s future Reis-class submarine TCG Selmanreis.
The bow section was handed over to Gölcük Naval Shipyard by STM and Gürdesan Gemi Makinaları Sanayii Ticaret in Turkey.

STM said that this is the first time a submarine’s bow section or ‘Section 50’ has been built using the domestic capabilities at Gürdesan in Turkey.
Turkish Defence Industry Agency (Savunma Sanayii Başkanlığı – SSB) president Dr İsmail Demir said: “We continue our efforts to add strength to our country’s power in the Blue Homeland.
“With the participation of our STM engineers and our local industry, we have completed the last delivery of the head parts, which include torpedo tubes, which we have produced domestically for the Reis-class submarines.”
Following its delivery, the bow section will be integrated onto TCG Selmanreis, the sixth and last submarine of its class.

By GlobalDataOne of the most critical parts of the submarine, Section 50 will house the main weapon system of the vessel – eight 533mm torpedo tubes.
The Section 50 is being used for the third, fourth, fifth and sixth Reis-class submarines, while the first two submarines will be equipped with German ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) built torpedo tubes.
Being built at Gölcük Shipyard, the 68m-long Reis-class submarines are being developed as part of the Turkish Navy’s New Type Submarine Project launched by SSB.
This project aims to produce six stealth submarines that can launch various torpedoes and missiles against various surface, land as well as underwater targets.
The six submarines are TCG Pirireis, Hizirreis, Muratreis, Aydinreis, Seydialireis and Selmanreis.
TCG Pirireis has already commenced its sea trials in December last year.
