North Korea (DPRK) has test-fired an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) into the international sea.
The ICBM is said to have landed nearly 60km off the coast of South Korea, near the Northern Limit Line (NLL).

As per Reuters report, around 23 missiles were launched on 2 November, marking the first time such a large number of missiles were fired by DPRK in a single day.
The report claimed that the missiles were launched a few hours after North Korea demanded the US and South Korea cease military drills.
Reuters cited South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol office statement as saying: “President Yoon Suk-yeol noted North Korea’s provocation today was an effective act of territorial encroachment by a missile intruding NLL for the first time since (two Koreas’) division.”
In response to the latest incident, the South Korean military issued ‘air raid warnings’ for Ulleung Island and fired missiles, Yonhap News Agency (YNA) reported.

In a statement, US National Security Council (NSC) spokesperson Adrienne Watson said: “The US President and his national security team are assessing situation in coordination with our allies and partners.
“This launch, in addition to launch of multiple other ballistic missiles this week, is a flagrant violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions and needlessly raises tensions and risks destabilising security situation in the region.
“This action demonstrates that DPRK continues to prioritise its unlawful weapons of mass destruction and ICBM programmes over well-being of its people.”
“We urge all countries to condemn these violations and call on DPRK to cease its destabilising actions and engage in serious dialogue.”
