Boeing’s F/A-18 Super Hornet aircraft has successfully completed operational demonstration tests to prove its ability to operate from the Indian Navy’s aircraft carriers.
The demonstration was carried out at Indian Naval Station Hansa in Goa, India.

During the test, the US Navy’s two F/A-18E aircraft completed several ski-jumps, fly-in and roll-in arrestments to meet the test requirements of the Indian Navy.
In addition, the aircraft conducted performance flights with a wide range of weights in the air-to-air, air-to-surface and air-to-ground configurations.
This test validated F/A-18 aircraft’s compatibility and capabilities to operate effectively and safely aboard the Indian Navy’s aircraft carriers.

The company has offered its F/A-18 Super Hornet Block III multi-role naval aircraft for the Indian Navy.
Garcia added: “With the Super Hornet Block III, the Indian Navy would not only get the most advanced platform but would also benefit from tactics, upgrades and knowledge related to the naval aviation ecosystem that the US Navy offers.”
In 2020, Boeing also conducted another test with F/A-18 aircraft at Naval Air Station (NAS) Patuxent River in Maryland, US.
As part of this test, the aircraft performed eight ski-jumps in multiple weights and configurations.
During the 2020 test, it also demonstrated Super Hornet’s capabilities to operate from a short takeoff but arrested recovery (STOBAR) aircraft carrier.
