Last month, NAVAIR selected Vertex to continue its support services for US Navy T-45 aircraft, aircraft systems, and related services in support of flight training and evaluation operations.

The task order includes a one-year base period and six one-year options.

Vertex Aerospace president and CEO Ed Boyington said: “We are grateful and honoured by NAVAIR’s continued confidence and partnership with Vertex.

“With nearly two decades of experience on this programme, the award of this recompete validates the support we provide to PMA-273 and CNATRA, and we look forward to continuing this support for the next seven years.”

The fully integrated T-45TS training system is used in the Undergraduate Jet Pilot Training Program, Naval Flight Officer (NFO) Training System Program, and Instructors Under Training.

By partnering with the US Navy, Vertex will serve as the maintenance provider ashore and afloat for T-45 aircraft.

The company will provide ‘organisational, intermediate, and depot-level’ on-site aircraft maintenance for the aircraft.

Furthermore, it will provide component repair, support equipment maintenance, as well as CLS for more than 2,400 active fixed/rotary wing aircraft.

The company’s CLS approach is supported by in-house US Federal Aviation Administration Part 145 stations at Crestview, Florida; and Madison, Mississippi, US.

Vertex Aerospace has so far provided more than 130,000 flight hours and accomplishments of 43 detachments on the T-45 programme.

Earlier this year, Vertex received a contract from the US Navy for the base year of CLS for the AHTS programme. The AHTS programme is aimed at enhancing pilot training and skills using existing technologies.
