This is the third edition of Samudra Shakti, which aims to strengthen maritime cooperation between the two navies and bolster friendship bonds across the Indo Pacific.

It also seeks to improve bilateral relationship and enhance mutual understanding and maritime interoperability between the navies of the two nations.

The Indian Ministry of Defence (MoD) noted that the exercise will serve as a platform to share best practices and develop a common understanding of maritime security operations between India and Indonesia.

The exercise will include complex maritime operations such as air defence serials, weapon firings, cross deck landings, military interdiction operations, replenishment approaches, and tactical manoeuvres.
