The contract is also a major step towards India’s ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan’ initiative.

The Atmanirbhar Bharat vision is an initiative introduced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India self-reliant and increase domestic defence manufacturing in the country.

In a statement, Indian MoD stated that the contract signing ‘would enable absorption of technology, skill development as well as indigenous manufacture’, creating many job opportunities.
