Naval Group has delivered the second Gowind-class multi-mission offshore patrol vessel (OPV), ARA Piedrabuena, to the Argentinian Navy.
ARA Piedrabuena is the second of four Gowind OPVs ordered by Argentina as part of a contract signed with Naval Group in 2018.

This contract includes the refurbishment of Naval Group-built OPV L’Adroit and three new-build vessels.
The OPVs are being built in France by Kership, a joint venture between Naval Group and Piriou.
Of the four vessels, ARA Bouchard (former L’Adroit) was delivered in December 2020.
ARA Piedrabuena is the first of the three new-build vessels being constructed for Argentina. Deliveries of the ships are scheduled to take place every six months.

By GlobalDataAccording to the company, ARA Piedrabuena offers the same features as that of the first ARA Bouchard OPV under this class.
Some of the features include an active stabilisation system and a bow thruster, the POLARIS system and NiDL tactical data link system.
Naval Group programme director Jean-Claude Flandrin said: “Despite the very complicated global sanitary situation and thanks to the commitment of the teams from Naval Group, Kership, Piriou and all their industrial partners, we managed to deliver this first patrol vessel designed for the Argentinian needs on time and also to carry on preparing the remainder of the series.”
The 87m-long vessel has a displacement capacity of 1,650t, endurance of more than 7,000nm, and a maximum speed of over 20k.
It can accommodate 59 crew and passengers and can boarding capacity for two 9m light crafts and one 10t class helicopter.
