Advanced Technology International (ATI) and the National Armaments Consortium have partnered to develop solutions to solve energetics challenges.

The two companies have signed an agreement with the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Indian Head Division (IHD).

Under the agreement, the parties will support the Naval Energetic Systems and Technologies (NEST) programme.

Executed under an other transaction agreement (OTA), the NEST programme is aimed at addressing the most significant ‘energetics-related challenges’ facing the Navy and US Marine Corps (USMC).

With a term of six years, the OTA also has a four-year option.

Some of the technology development areas of the NEST OTA are artillery systems, including: naval gun systems; ammunition and guns ammunition; propellants; propulsion systems; warheads; ordnance disassembly and related technologies; chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN); and packaging, handling, storage, and transportation (PHS&T).

According to National Armaments Consortium, the latest effort is critical in enabling the US Navy, USMC and the US Department of Defense (DoD) in addressing the current and future threats in the ‘surface, subsurface, air, ground, littoral and expeditionary environments’.

NAC executive director Charlie Zisette said: “The NAC is honoured to partner with ATI and the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division to develop a collaborative partnership focused on solving the biggest energetics challenges facing our nation.

“Our members look forward to working with the incredible workforce at Indian Head to accelerate the development, adoption, and deployment of energetics-related technologies to provide our warfighters the decisive edge on the battlefield.”

The NSWC IHD serves as the US Navy’s premier organisation for ordnance, energetics as well as explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) solutions.
