US-based Cobham Mission Systems has been contracted to deliver pilot oxygen life support equipment for the new production deliveries of F/A-18 aircraft.

The contract has been awarded by the US Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR).

Under the contract, the company will provide its GGU-12 oxygen concentrator and CRU-99 oxygen monitor.

Cobham Mission Systems SVP business development and strategy Jason Apelquist said: “In support of the navy, and as a provider dedicated to protecting the warfighter, Cobham appreciates this continued show of confidence in the performance of our oxygen life support equipment.

“For over four decades, we have been a recognised leader in providing safe, quality and highly reliable oxygen concentrators for the navy, including third-party confirmation that our systems meet today’s strictest performance requirements to safely and reliably serve the warfighter and the F/A-18 fleet.”

According to the company, the systems are a part of the company’s aviation life support components portfolio.

The company’s oxygen concentrators are installed on the A-4, F/A-18, F-14, and L-1011 aircraft.

Last month, the US Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division (NAWCAD) awarded a recompete contract to KBR to help the US Navy’s F/A-18 and EA-18G Program Office (PMA-265) with foreign military sales (FMS) FMS.

In August, RUAG Australia won a contract from the US Navy for the maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) of some components of the F/A-18 Hornet fleet.
