This system will serve as an important part of the US Navy’s Surface Training Advanced Virtual Environment (STAVE) programme and bring courseware and simulation systems into a ‘Family of Trainers’ to support surface exercises.

Work under the STIGS programme will be performed in Orlando, Florida and is expected to be concluded by July 2025.

Cubic Global Defense president Mike Knowles said: “We are proud the US Navy continues to trust in us as a key partner as it invests in state-of-the-art technologies to train sailors.

“Our solution will provide the baseline for a fully blended instructional training approach that seamlessly supports all levels of surface fleet training.”

Using the company’s experience, the contract will deliver a solution that supports the systems while enabling updates and improvements for emerging needs in fleet readiness.

The previously delivered Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) courseware will also receive upgrades and modifications, along with new capabilities for LCS and other ships.

Cubic Orlando general manager Ray Oliver said: “Our successful performance on the LCS Immersive Virtual Ship Environment (IVSE) programmes have validated the benefits of our Total Learning Platform and game-based training.

“Both provide a common baseline for the immersive Programme of Instruction used to qualify and certify sailors.”
