Cubic Mission Solutions (CMS) has been contracted to manufacture Communication Data Link System –Technical Refresh (CDLS-TR) equipment.
The contract has been awarded by the US Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR).

Under the $9m, five-year, sole source contract, Cubic will deliver its Sharklink system for use on two CVN aircraft carriers.
The initial Sharklink systems are currently being installed on USS Nimitz and USS Carl Vinson.
A part of the US Navy’s CDL system of systems, the high-performance Sharklink is a surface data terminal.
It supports secure, long-range high data rate communications with airborne and shipboard platforms.

Designed with a flexible architecture, Sharklink supports growth for up to eight links at the same time. It offers real-time imagery, full-motion video, audio and sensor data.
By transmitting data instantly, it enables deployed personnel to take more informed decisions.
The US Navy will use the software defined radio architecture platform to support current and future CDL waveforms.
The current award is a follow-on to a 2017 development contract awarded to Cubic.
Additionally, Cubic is delivering other CDL equipment. The systems are for use on different platforms, such as MQ-8C Fire Scout, MH-60S Knighthawk, MQ-25 Stingray, F-35 and the TacMobile portable systems.
In November last year, the US Marine Corps (USMC) awarded a contract worth $325m to CMS to produce and deliver 172 next-generation troposcatter (NGT) systems.
