The UK Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) has chosen multiple companies for a contract framework to deliver specialist nuclear technical services to the Ministry of Defence (MOD).

Following a procurement process, Atkins Cavendish Alliance (ACA), KBR, Assystem, Doosan Babcock (KAD) and Nuvia have been chosen for the contract framework.

The selection process included a measurement of collaboration and behaviours of the companies.

The Nuclear Technical Support Provider (NTSP) framework is valid for seven years, with an optional extension for a further three years.

Under the contract, which is valued between $310m (£250m) and $495m (£400m), the selected companies will deliver specialist nuclear technical services.

The contract framework will support DIO, Navy Command, and other MOD organisations.

The framework will also support the Clyde Infrastructure Programme (CIP) and meet the requirements of the Royal Navy and other defence departments.

The contract will primarily focus on delivery of the refurbishment and the upgrade of critical infrastructure at Her Majesty’s Naval Base (HMNB) Clyde.

ACA spokesperson Andy Albutt said: “The Clyde Infrastructure Programme represents an incredible opportunity to help shape the UK’s defence capability and further strengthen the industry’s collective expertise in delivering highly specialised nuclear services.

“Atkins and Cavendish Nuclear are now focused on working closely alongside the DIO and our framework partners to hit the ground running as part of this select delivery team.”

KAD Nuclear framework director Ian Hudson said: “KAD Nuclear has a clear and unique philosophy. We have the right people, we are ready to go, and we will work collaboratively inside KAD and with other framework suppliers to find the best solution.”
