Capable of identifying up to 2,000 targets in real-time, ALTESSE-H has already been chosen by the French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) for the French Navy’s FTI medium-size frigates programme.

The electronic warfare solution designed by Thales features a TRC 6460 ultra-high-frequency interceptor and direction finder, advanced antenna system and operating software derived from the Keyobs suite.

“ALTESSE-H combines artificial intelligence and human intelligence to help operators perform their surveillance mission at every decisive moment.”

These systems enable ALTESSE-H to deliver faster response times and capture shorter signals at longer range while simultaneously gathering intelligence data.

Thales communications electronic warfare business director Anne Napoli said: “Thales draws on more than 40 years of experience in communications electronic warfare to bring naval forces worldwide unrivalled expertise in critical multi-sensor systems.

“ALTESSE-H is an innovative solution combining artificial intelligence and human intelligence to help operators perform their surveillance mission at every decisive moment.”

The communications solution can intercept signals at twice the range of previous models. Detection of threats at an early stage allows navies to be prepared to respond more quickly.

Other benefits include greater reliability for improved performance in dense electromagnetic environments and faster detection to capture shorter signals.

Euronaval takes place from 23-26 October.
